Hypastorm Gameplay

When entering a new arena, it is populated with a number of Spawners that deploys drones into the arena. To beat the level, all Spawners must be eliminated. Once the last Spawner is dead, the remaining enemy drones get no more power, and are immediately destroyed and you are transported to the next arena to continue the fight towards the top.

Early on, the levels are easy so don’t be to eager to quickly kill the Spawners and move on, instead take the time and battle some spawned drones. Each destroyed drone generates a medal that can be collected. When a medal is collected there is always a chance that it will trigger an item drop. The item can be either a weapon power-up or an extra life that restores full health.

These are located in fixed locations around the arenas. They opens up in random intervals and deploys more drones into the arena. Destroy all spawners in a level to complete it.

Drone

Drone

A drone’s purpose is to stop the player at any cost. They hunt in flocks and collectively travels towards the player’s current location. Each time a drone is destroyed it leaves a medal behind for the player to collect.

Power Ups and Bonuses

Collect medals after eliminating drones. For every collected medal there’s an increased chance for a weapon power up or an extra life to be dropped into the game.

Extra Life

Collect these to get an additional life.

If you already have the maximum number of available lives you will instead be awarded with an additional score of 250.

Weapon Power Up

Collect these to power up your plasma weapon. When the game begins you start with a plasma gun of grade 1. You can keep levelling it up all the way to grade 9.

Once you are at grade 9, collecting additional power ups will instead award you with an additional score of 250.

Each upgrade increases the bullet speed and damage dealt while also decreasing the cooldown time between each shot fired.
