Moving Your Library

This guide explains the safest way to move your main Zenspire library folder to a new location (e.g., from your Documents folder to an external drive) without losing your Favorites, Pinned images, or Collection data.

  1. Quit Zenspire Make sure the Zenspire application is completely closed. Press ⌘Q or select Zenspire > Quit Zenspire from the menu bar. This ensures no changes are being done to your library while you copy the image files.

  2. Copy the Folder in Finder Using the macOS Finder, navigate to your current Zenspire library folder. Copy the entire folder to its new destination. You can do this by dragging the folder to the new location while holding the Option (⌥) key, or by right-clicking and choosing Copy, then pasting it in the new location.

  3. Relaunch Zenspire Open the Zenspire application again. It will still be using the library at the original, old location.

  4. Update the Location in Settings Open Zenspire’s settings (⌘,). Go to the Library tab and click the Choose... button. In the folder selection panel that appears, navigate to and select the copied library folder in its new location.

  5. Verify the New Location After selecting the new location, Zenspire will rescan and load the library from the new path.

  6. Clean Up (Optional) Once you have confirmed that Zenspire is working correctly with the library in the new location, you can safely delete the original library folder from the old location to free up disk space.
