Settings
This section covers application settings available within Zenspire.
Settings Window
Section titled “Settings Window”You can access the Settings window in these ways:
- Click the Gear icon at the bottom of the sidebar.
- Go to the
Zenspire
menu in the top menu bar and chooseSettings...
. - Press the standard macOS keyboard shortcut: ⌘,

Appearance
Section titled “Appearance”Controls the visual presentation of elements within Zenspire.

Rounded Corners on Thumbnails:
Enabled (Checked)
: Image thumbnails in the Image Grid will have slightly rounded corners for a softer aesthetic.Disabled (Unchecked)
: Thumbnails will have sharp, square corners.

Customize Background:
Enabled (Checked)
: Allows you to set a custom background luminosity for the Image Grid area using the slider below.Disabled (Unchecked)
: (Default) The Image Grid background will use the standard system appearance (adapting to light/dark mode).- Luminosity Slider: Drag the slider to adjust the background of the Image Grid. (Enabled when “Customize Background” is checked).
Folder Browsing
Section titled “Folder Browsing”Defines how images within Folders and their subfolders are displayed.
- Show Items in Current Folder and Subfolders:
Enabled (Checked)
: When viewing a Folder, images from that folder and all its subfolders will be displayed together in a single, unified grid.Disabled (Unchecked)
: (Default) Only images directly within the selected folder will be shown. To see images in subfolders, you must navigate into them individually.
Library Location
Section titled “Library Location”This setting determines the root folder on your Mac where Zenspire stores and manages your image library. For a comprehensive guide on how the library works and how to choose its location, please see the Getting Started with Your Library page.
- Use Custom Library Location:

Enabled (Checked)
: Allows you to select a specific folder on your Mac (e.g., in your Documents, Pictures, or on an external drive) as the root for your Zenspire library. Zenspire will then manage its folders and images within this chosen location. -
Disabled (Unchecked)
: (Default) Zenspire uses its default location within the user’s macOS Library (typically found in~/Library/Containers/com.bitbebop.Zenspire/
). -
Location Display &
Choose...
Button: (These controls are only active if “Use Custom Library Location” is checked.)- Location: Displays the file path of the currently selected custom library folder.
Choose...
Button: Click this to open a standard macOS select folder dialog. Navigate to and select the folder on your Mac that you wish to use as your Zenspire library root.
